Rough Draft Thesis Statements

In the book "The Crucible," Arthur Miller portrays multiple characters outliving and getting past
the strict moral values in an attempt to keep up with a good reputation through John
Proctor, Reverend Paris, and Abigail Williams.

In Arthur Miller's classic, The Crucible reputations play an important role, during the
whole witchcraft ordeal in Salem, Massachusetts. One character whose reputation
plays an important role is the protagonist John Procter. His identity as a good christian,
the secret of his affair, and how he uses that to protect his wife are all important
elements to the story.

Their reputation is very important to them because
they felt that they needed to be accepted by society in order to have a successful life.
But, many do everything to uphold their name. Some of the characters in the book take
it too extremes, like Reverend Parris, John Proctor and Abigail Williams.
